The Western Region is comprised of the 14 western states. One must ski at Regionals to qualify for National competition.
That's Jeff, he and his ski partner Scott Peterson (nope, not that Scott Peterson) drove down from Oregon for the Regionals. Great people, great skiing! We look forward to seeing Jeff compete at Nationals in the near future...like next year!
Here's a great shot of Matt Oberholtz...the only sit skier on the planet who can do a flip! Such athleticism earned him a World Record and a Gold Medal in Tricks at the 2003 World DisAbledWaterSki Championships in Florida! (By the way the US won TEAM GOLD!) That's Matt and Garen
And here are a few shots of mo
the thrilling, spilling, chilling world of JUMP!
Everyone lines the shore near the jump ramp just waiting for the action.
Jumping is Steve Hornsey, who has earned multiple medals in slalom, trick and jump...Steve's been an icon in the sport for many years. Yikes, looks like trouble on the landing! Steve's jumping was thrilling, chilling, and indeed spilling There's a lot more to the Regionals than just skiing? You better believe it, it's also a family reunion:)
When you hang around with peeps who use wheelchairs and they get out of their chair it's just like at home...someone else gets the chair...can you guess who's chair it is?
Tom, Amy & Ski Lynn Mecham. We all count on them to lend their helping hands at Regionals. Tom has a great time with the microphone; at one point he was asking for KeNyA's parents to come to the dock because she was harassing paraplegics, trying to throw people into the water! I asked KeNyA about it and she said "It wasn't people, it was Matt, and he started it! I was defending myself!"
