TEAM Mechanic |
I was born in Williamsport Pennsylvania and moved to Alabama when I
was 10. My daddy taught me to ski on the Susquehanna River when I was about
5.
I skied recreationally until I was about 35 and then it seemed like
all my friends got too old and boring and I didn't have anybody to ski
with any more. So I had to join The Magic City Waterski Club. That's when
I was introduced to tournament skiing and met Mike Mosley and Steve Murray.
My first year in the club they were hosting the DisAbled
Southern Regionals for their 2nd year, so I helped out a little. The
next year we hosted the Nationals and I helped a little more. Every
year I seemed to get a little more involved in Disabled skiing.
In '99 we had a US TEAM training camp at our tournament site. I was helping
out
setting up, modifying and repairing equipment and the skiers seemed to
think I was kind of handy to have around. They took up a collection and
took me to England. Thanks again everyone.
(Dennis totally got into the TEAM spirit. As you can see we dyed his
hair red/white & blue for the WORLDS. His hair was spectacular
looking. KeNyA took this shot on a double-decker as some of the TEAM toured
London, England.)
When I'm not skiing I enjoy mountain biking, camping and hiking and
shooting. I've never been married. I work as an equipment mechanic for
the American Cast Iron Pipe Co. in Birmingham, Al.
One reason I enjoy working with the DisAbled is because I have a
nephew Jake in North Carolina with CP.
One more thing you might want to add that I was the first able bodied
member of the Magic City Water Ski Club to go over the ramp on a sit
ski!
