KeNevA's First Ski Pond

KeNevA's First Ski Pond    Los Banos, CA  (USA)

  • Human made                       (2000' long x 270' wide)
  • Private site                         (one boat at a time)
  • Centrally located                 (Los Banos, CA)
  • Great ski weather                (summer temps 90-110)
  • Good water conditions         (rarely blown out)
  • All abilities welcome            (friendly atmosphere)

Located on the west side of the world famous San Joaquin Valley,

at nearly the geographic center of California, is KeNevA's Pond.

KeNevA's is within 2 hours of San Francisco, Monterey Peninsula,
Silicon Valley, Fresno, and the fabulous Yosemite Valley . . . yet
we're worlds apart.  Terrain, climate and attitude are as different
as night and day.  We lovingly refer to Los Banos as a state of mind,
for it is a step behind the fast paced city life, people aren't afraid to
make eye contact or smile at a stranger, why we still wave with all
five fingers as we drive along our roadways:)

KeNevA's is situated next to a wildlife refuge, within the Pacific
Flyway (the north-south migratory path of waterfowl) so it appears
natural, not groomed.  While waiting for a ski ride one can identify
at least 8 types of birds, listen to the crickets, frogs, and birds, while
watching wild rabbits, squirrels, skunk hustle about.  Some say the
feeling of serenity comes from the Native American Yokuts who
once thrived in the Eden like surroundings of the Big Valley.  If you're
really lucky there will be a passel of children present, whose laughter
and squeals of delight will fill you with joy.

Discovering Trust at KeNevA's - Comedian L.G. Brown plays a game of catch with KeNyA while waiting for his ski ride during a Mike Suyderhoud Advanced Men's Clinic.  When you feel safe you believe you can do anything . . . like fly . . . or walk on water:)

At this point in time we aren't open to the general public as a ski school, our county permit allows us to operate a private club, without over night camping:(   Our standard membership is one year, 12 months from joining to renewal, access 365 days a year.  If you're not used to skiing at a private site, or even owning a boat, it may seem expensive; but have you ever snow skied?  That's expensive!  So are amusement parks.  If you do the math, you'll see we actually offer a good value.

The price of a skiing good time at KeNevA's
Ski Day (up to 3 sets - 6 passes or 15 min/set) $50.00   includes boat and gas
Ticket Book (1 ticket/set - 6 passes/15 min) 10 for $200; 20 for $350; 30 for $450.

Kent's a Level 3 Jump Instructor (certification through USA
                            Water Ski
, national governing body of the sport).  Kent is also
                            a World Champion WaterSki Coach!

Since opening in July of 1993 KeNevA's First Ski Pond has produced 3 World Champions, 2 World Records, 7 National Champions, 17  Regional Competitors, hosted 6 Women of WaterSports (WOW) clinics, served as  WOW National Clinic Organizer, WOW Membership Services, hosted 3 Mike Suyderhoud (WaterSki Hall of Fame) clinics, served on the 1995 DisAbled Nationals Committee as Media Relations, volunteered with National Handicapped Sports www.dsusa.org arranged for 2 members with disabilities to exhibition at Marine World, Africa, USA, participated in the 1997 4th of July Ski-A-Thon (a fund raiser for US Ski Teams, Junior Development and DisAbled WaterSkiers, wherein Gordon Rathbun skied 49 California private lakes in under 24 hours), provided pre and post event publicity, provided all documentation to Guinness Book of World Records and actually obtained a World Record for Gordon Rathbun's feat, traveled to Ireland & England with the now World Champion US DisAbledWaterSki Team to support a Team KeNevA club skier (Coached by Kent to 2 World Records and 2 Individual World Championships), obtained USA WaterSki Coaches Certifications 1, 2, (Kent a 3
in jump - the only higher certification is that of Elite Coach) and have introduced hundreds and hundreds to the sport of waterSkiing.
Our success rate with beginners - 99%!

KeNevA knows waterSkiing, KeNevA's pond produces skiers, like Kent here on the right.
It makes no difference your ability or your future plans for waterSkiing, it is fun, challenging, and great physical exercise in the hot California sun.  It's one of those things in life that's great to try, at least once.

So what are you waiting for?  We've taken away all the elements that usually make newcomers a bit fearful.  There's no alcohol on site, one boat at time on the water, the water is 4 1/2 feet deep, and we love teaching people how to ski!  Our members are awesome people; guaranteed you'll feel comfortable in their presence.

Speaking of feeling comfortable, hey let's face it, few of us in the real
world look like Baywatch babes or stud-muffins.  Who you are is not
what you look like in swimwear, it's not your level of experience on the
water . . . it's that nifty spirit of yours, longing to play as carefree as a
child.  That's the you we welcome, the real you, no matter what the
outside looks like, no matter what it knows how to do.

Teaching someone new or raising someone's existing level of skiing is
every bit as exciting as skiing ourselves.  We share your joy, much like
a parent delights in watching their child throw back their little head
and give a belly laugh.  We can't have a first experience again ourselves,
sharing yours brings ours to the surface once more.

You never know who you might meet at KeNevA's, or where they're from.  We've
had skiers, of every level, many walks of life, from around the globe visit our site.
Shall we ski you in the summer?
